THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE: To account for and improve on the low % usage of contact lenses, in particular, dual wearing patients who could benefit from prescription of both glasses and contact lenses
THE RESEARCH CHALLENGE: To understand the drivers and barriers to contact lens wearing and prescription amongst patients and optometrists and form a holistic approach to be applied across different markets and cultures
HOW WE RESPONDED: We conducted ethnographic interviews with optometrists and patients from 7 different international markets, to build the framework for a quantitative phase. This allowed us to quantify and validate reactions to the insights, stories and experiences found in the qualitative research.
THE OUTCOME: We enriched the quantitative data surrounding contact lens usage, with real stories of the life changing benefits they have given consumers. The findings were used to help break down potential barriers that patients, optometrists and retailers had, to the usage or prescription of contact lenses.
